Board Member Job Description

Note:  Seeking to fill three (3) vacancies by December 31, 2017

[Governance Board – minimum three (3) year-term] 1. Attends quarterly board meetings and important related meetings.  Since board members are located throughout the State of Ohio, quarterly meetings will typically be conducted via conference calls with the exception of the board’s Annual Retreat; 2. Agrees to serve on at least one (1) committee [Programs, Fundraising, or Marketing] 3. Stays informed about agency matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports. 4. Participates in the agency’s fund raising plan by personally contributing financially to the agency’s annual giving program, identifying and cultivating relationships with donors, and attending fundraising events. [Committees - Each Governance Board member must select a committee to serve annually and may rotate among committees from year-to-year based upon individual interest.] [Programs Committee] 1. Support agency programs by either volunteering at program sites or assisting with identifying and securing volunteers. [Fundraising Committee] 1. Help with the agency’s fundraising plan by assisting with its creation and organizing fundraising events by securing necessary resources and materials including in-kind contributions. [Marketing Committee] 1. Work to ensure brand awareness through various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and other relevant media outlets.
